Sport and Recreation
The Var boasts approximately 10 Championship Gold Courses, all open to the general public by way of green fee. We are fortunate to have the Golf Club de Barberoux situated just the other side of Brignoles, about 15 kms away. A little further away at Le Muy, is the Golf de St-Endreol. It's just as fine a course as Golf de Sainte Maxime

Boules or Petanques
Petanque, "pay-tonk", originated in Provence roughly 100 years ago. It is one of Europe's most popular outdoor games and has some similarities to both horseshoes and bocce. In many village squares, you'll find individuals playing the game.
Do you want to tour various grottos, descend into the depths of the earth to see magnificant stalagmites and stalactites? There are several grottos in Provence that are worth visiting.

Cycling and mountain biking is a very popular sport in Provence. You will want to avoid cycling in the summer, from June 15 until September 15, as the weather is very hot. The early fall is the ideal time to bike in Provence. May is also generally good cycling weather although early May may see a Mistral wind (a very strong, cold wind that blows down from the Rhone Valley). If you are planning on cycling, check out this page on facts you need to know if biking in France. You may want to consider an excursion to the Gorges du Verdon and Moustiers Ste. Marie (Lac de St. Croix).
Ranch Martine in Carces offers several horse riding packages but you will find many stables throughout the Var where trekking is available. We often see riders turning up in Cotignac, seeking a drink and a pit-stop along the way. Their address is Route d'Entrecasteaux, Quartier les Hauts de Parayon, Carces, and their phone number is 04 94 04 55 54.
Nearby Brignoles also has a stable, Haras du Val de Camps, at Chemin du Val de Camps. To arrange a ride, the phone numbers are Tel #1 : 04 94 69 30 65 and Tel #2 : 06 85 69 23 18.
Hot Air Ballooning
Imagine floating over fields red with blooming poppies. Or hazy purple from row upon row of lavender. Or floating above a medieval castle. There are several companies that offer hot air balloon trips in Provence.

K-noe is located here in Correns and offers kayak trips down the River Argens. After a lovely drive several miles up stream, you're then left to your own devices to get back! But don't worry - instruction is also offered.Tennis
It was former French President, Francois Mitterand, who said that every village in France should have a tennis court. This is true in Correns. Our local court is located beside the Cooperative Agricole and has been recently re-surfaced. New netting has also been added. Incidentally, the court is not often used by the locals and is almost always available to visitors. Do you have raquets available?
Lonely Planet Guides can do a much better job than I when when it comes to writing about Provence, its art and its culture. Here are a few trips, however, that are well worth making that are within an hour’s drive from La Toscane.
Les Calanques de Cassis by Boat
Les Gorges du Verdon, Le Lac de St. Croix and Moustiers Ste Marie.
La Musee de Prehistoire in Quinson designed by British Architect, Sir Norman Foster.
L’Abbaye du Thoronet
The Coastal Resorts of St. Tropez
St-Raphae/Frejus and Cannes.
If visiting Frejus, pass by the shop, Traiteur VAN DAM, situated in the Port of Frejus, and pick up your pre-ordered “Soupe de Poissons” to enjoy back at La Toscane. It is the best soup on the Riviera.
